The Late Rev. Dr. William F. Buchanan

The Late Reverend Dr. William F. Buchanan’s body of work is all around us and can be physically touched and witnessed daily through his labor of love shared in initiatives he unequivocally supported. Notably, the newly branded William Franklin Buchanan Community Development Corporation, which drives social action and transformation in the communities it serves. Rev. Buchanan’s enthusiastic vision of being in partnership with the community continues to shape the organization's development and management of affordable housing, the provision of workforce training and business investments, including education and counseling in homeownership and personal finance programs ensuring the economic stability of revitalized communities.
 

In addition to working with the community development corporation, initiatives he supported within and external to the church included a child learning center that served families, an independent living residence for seniors, a Love Kitchen, Angel Food and Dove Tree distribution that revives the homeless and needy, as well as a mission and Prison Ministry that encourages second chances. Ultimately, Rev. Buchanan’s legacy represents his influence and full body of work serving as pastor of the Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church congregation for 22 years. His personal impact was a genuinely kind, humble, and faithful leadership in the community that always reflected “a warm and enthusiastic spirit, like the mind of Christ”.
